The Town of Caroga was formed on April 11, 1842. It was composed of lands of the Towns of Stratford, Bleecker, and Johnstown.

The Regular monthly meetings of the Caroga Town Board are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm. The next regular monthly meeting will be Wednesday March 11, 2026 at 6:30. In person attendance is welcome.

Town Clerk’s Bulletin Board

The monthly March (4th) Planning Board meeting will not be held this month per Chairman Kozakiewicz.

CAROGA LEGAL NOTICE: The Caroga Town Board will hold a public hearing on Proposed Local Law # 1 of 2026 a Law “Establishing the Residency Requirements for the Appointed Office of Deputy Highway Superintendent for the Town of Caroga” during the regular monthly meeting on Wednesday March 11, 2026 at 7:15 pm at town hall. 1840 State Highway 10 Caroga Lake NY 12032.

The full text of the proposed local law is posted on the town bulletin board, on the town website caroga.town, or available from the Town Clerk’s Office.

Anyone wishing to comment may do so either in writing or personally at the public hearing or by attorney or other representative. By order of the Town Board dated this 20^th day of February 2026.

Job Opening The Town of Caroga Weed Abatement Program is accepting applications for the position of Lead Diver. The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

The ability to perform regular inspection of the lakes to identify the presence of invasive species, using Town equipment, following all proper procedures and protocol.
Ability to identify species using the equipment, the Lead Diver would physically review the areas that were designated with infestations and determine the corrective action required.
Ability to operate the boats and equipment, to manage the infestations. The successful candidate will have completed the New York State Boater Safety class and will provide documentation of completion.
Will possess all necessary certification and minimum of five (5) years experience to fulfill the job and will provide all necessary documentation.

In addition, the physical requirements of the position will require a person who is a strong swimmer, able to lift heavy objects, able to climb and descend ladders, using required safety protocol, operation of equipment controls using both hands, and the ability to perform tasks outdoors for extended periods of time, in varying weather. The successful candidate will have the ability to see and avoid obvious hazards and have the ability to work in heavy traffic areas of the water.

LEGAL NOTICE Take Notice that I, Linda M. Gilbert, the undersigned collector of taxes for the Town of Caroga, County of Fulton in the State of New York have duly received the tax roll and warrant for the collection of taxes within the Town of Caroga for the year 2026 and that I will attend at 1840 State Highway #10 in the Town of Caroga, or by mail at P.O. Box 328 Caroga Lake NY 12032, from January 1, 2026 to March 31, 2026 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday from 9 am – 3 pm and on Thursday & Saturday from 9 – noon, except holidays for the purpose of receiving taxes listed on said roll. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that taxes may be paid on or before January 31, 2026 without charge or interest. On all taxes received after said date, there shall be added one percent interest if paid on or before February 28, 2026 and an additional one percent for each additional month or fraction thereafter until the return of unpaid taxes to the county treasurer pursuant to the law. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that pursuant to the provisions of the law the tax roll of the Town of Caroga will be returned to the County Treasurer of the County of Fulton on the 1^st day of April 2026. LEGAL NOTIFICATION The Caroga Highway Superintendent, Roy Stock, has posted the weight limit on the Cape Horn Bridge at 5 Tons. The weight limit was reduced following a recent inspection by the State of New York Department of Transportation.
