Janitorial Position/Building Maintenance

The Town of Caroga is looking to fill the janitorial/building maintenance position at town hall.  Flexible hours.  Duties include, general cleaning of offices, equipment, bathrooms, trash removal,  carpet cleaning and washing and waxing of floors.  Snow removal and light maintenance work is also part of the job.  The rate of pay is  $18.00 per hour.   Submit a letter of interest to  the town clerk, 1840 State Highway 10  or by email at townclerk@caroga.town  Call 518 835 4211 ext. 101 with any questions    The next board meeting will be on June 10 to begin reviewing  applications submitted.

South Shore West Caroga Road Closure June 4th

Highway Superintendent Roy Stock announced there will be a scheduled road closure on                                               June 4th 2026 from 9 am to 3 pm. 

They will be replacing a culvert pipe in the vicinity of 170 S. Shore Road West Caroga.

WHEELERVILLE TRAILS IS HIRING!

Wheelerville Trails is hiring motivated and hardworking ground crew members for an exciting season of mountain bike trail construction and maintenance projects this summer.

We’re looking for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, take pride in building high-quality trails, and want to be part of a passionate trail community.

Crew members will assist with:

-New mountain bike trail construction

-Trail maintenance and repairs

-Rock armoring, drainage, and berm shaping -Hand tool and power tool operation -General landscaping and forestry work -Maintaining safe and sustainable trail standards

Ideal candidates should: Be dependable and able to work in a team environment -Have a strong work ethic and positive attitude -Be comfortable performing physically demanding outdoor work -Have experience with trail building, landscaping, construction, forestry, or outdoor labor (preferred but not required) -Have a passion for mountain biking and outdoor recreation

Bonus Skills

Experience with any of the following is a plus:

-Mini excavator or equipment operation

-Chainsaw certification/experience

National Grid Tree Maintenance

National Grid has hired Nelson Tree Service to do annual maintenance and trimming on the Caroga feeder lines and substation.  Notices will be sent to anyone getting power where preventative  work needs to be done.  If you have a concern call 1 800 Niagara or 1-800-642-4272.

No Garbage in Blue Recycle Bins

The Highway Superintendent Roy Stock issued the following Memo:  Curbside Garbage is to be out by 6:30 am on the designated pick up day. The South end of town is on Monday and the North end of Town is on Tuesday.  [The creek by Sherman’s is the dividing line.]   No Black or Dark Green Bags.  Also DO NOT put Garbage in the Blue Recycle Bins issued by the County.  

Safe Boaters’ Course

West Caroga Lake Association is sponsoring a Safe boaters’ course.

Stay safe on the water — get certified this summer.   WCLA is offering a free Boater Safety Course taught by the Great Sacandaga Safe Lake Initiative (est. 2018). Their experienced instructors are committed to safe, responsible boating — check them on Facebook: @GSL Safe Lake Initiative. The course is open to all individuals who will be 10 by June 24th.

  • When: Wednesday & Thursday, June 24–25, 5:00–9:00 PM
  • Where: Pine Lake’s Adirondack Paradise
  • Cost: Course is free; NYS charges a $10 fee for your Boater Safety Certificate after successful completion

Notice of Road Posting

Pursuant to Article 40, Section 1650, of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law, the Town of Caroga Highway Superintendent is posting the Town of Caroga roads to all vehicles with an axle weight of 5 tons or more from March 18, 2026 to May 14,  2026. This posting will be extended, if needed, until weather permits or by Highway Superintendent approval.

Zoning Board of Appeals

The Zoning Board of Appeals meets monthly on the third Wednesday of each month.  Meetings are held at Caroga Town Hall and begin at 7 pm.

If no cases or matters are up for review the board will not meet.
