Alene Onion, Environmental Program Specialist from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation will speak to us on:
A recent study done on the presence of cyanobacteria (Blue-Green Algae) in New York waterways. Large blooms of blue green algae in waterways can potentially cause health problems for humans, pets, and wildlife and other ecosystem problems. These blooms have been increasingly more frequent in lakes across the State. It is important to monitor this for area lakes.
We will also:
– discuss outreach mailing to Town residents on invasive species requirements and work of area lake associations.
– review water quality test results from ALAP and CSLAP
– discuss plans for milfoil removal and the boat inspection and decontamination program for the 2025 season.
– road salt reduction efforts
